TRADECRAFT: ENTERING WORLD OF WARCRAFT

Tue 5th Sep 2017 - 8:29pm : Gaming

The most well-known title in PC gaming falls to Blizzard Entertainment’s MMORPG, World of Warcraft. The game released in North America late November in 2004. In the last thirteen years, Blizzard has since released six expansions for the game, with Legion being it’s latest in the year 2016. WoW’s active user base peaked in October 2010 with over 12 million subscriptions and in October of 2015, 5.5million subscriptions were reported. Those numbers, however, did not affect the millions of loyal players around the world. Out of this love and dedication to the game, a competitive player versus player scene began to emerge. Though it took several years after the game’s launch, WoW Arena swept esports by storm.

SetToDestroyX is known for diving into games across multiple platforms in multiple genres and this is another exciting and thrilling venture. Teams have come and gone in WoW, but the competition remains the same. Taking note of that, SetToDestroyX was captivated and is proud to bring the team ‘Baby Rage’ into the brand. Making up the roster is Jason ‘hotjkpurge,’ Tylor ‘envious,’ Drake ‘woopy’ and Anthony ‘vices.’ With rising prize pools, the stakes and glory continue to reach heights they haven’t before and come Thursday, September 7, the team will be competing for a shot at a share of $100,000 under the banner and name of SetToDestroyX. It’s an exciting venture for the org and the players.

"WoW is something I have always personally been interested in. Not just as a casual player; when competitive tournaments started gaining traction last year, I definitely developed a new found interest in the game. Looking at the game in its current esports market, wherein 3 organizations represent a large majority of the professional teams competing at the highest level, it was challenging for us (SetToDestroyX) to create an opportunity to join the fray. However, after discovering 'BabyRage' and vetting the players and then learning that they qualified for this weekend's 100k LAN event, after competing in only 2 of the 5 qualification cup matches, I knew they would be the right opportunity to breach into one of Blizzards competitive markets and a game we are passionate about competing in." -Nathaen Wood, Director of Talent Acquisition, SetToDestroyX.

Passion doesn’t just stem from management’s side of SetToDestroyX. All of the players in ‘Baby Rage’ seem excited to be competing under the brand and it’s not just for the name. The organization has always pride itself on passionate, positive, hardworking pros and these four prove no different. This Thursday through Sunday is more than just another competition. The top four teams who place in the North American Championship Finals 2017, will be headed to BlizzCon to compete in the Arena World Championship. While there’s no way to officially predict who will place where, confidence on both sides of the deal have assured that they will play their hearts out and do everyone proud.

“I feel our team fits really well with SetToDestroyX as they are what we are about and I'm glad we can partner with them now and for the future! I predict our team is going to play exceptional and we will all be proud with our well-earned success!” -Drake ‘Woopy’ from BabyRage.
